I painted "Lament" to explore vulnerability and longing through a modern take on classical portraiture. To give the figure a surreal, emotional glow, I used a cool palette of deep violets and lavenders, contrasting her skin against a muted gray background. The dramatic lighting catches her upward gaze, while the smooth tones of her skin contrast with the textured white and pink roses in her hair. The piece is painted on high-quality linen for beautiful depth and comes completely ready to hang.
